diary #03
7/19/2026
Woo! Sorry to earlier Don for not posting a diary entry each day- Unironically got into PalWorld and all productivity at home has stopped ever since. Which is both a blessing and a curse, I needed the break from it all but also I'm soo behind on laundry now! I'll be doing laundry tomorrow, I gave my last five dollars to stranger so I got more money at another bank (That had a 4 dollar processing fee, insane!).
I went out with friends and spent about ~$100 today? Doesn't feel good to think about, but I have to remember that I did like no-buy for essentially the better part of the past 2-3 months. And all this, because I was worried about how much I could save for my dental surgery! But I need to do my due diligence tomorrow and update my financial sheet, as well as looking through the dental surgery payment plan details and seeing if I can nix the unnecessary upgrades...
The movie my friends & I watched was Backrooms 2026. I thought it was quite fun! I got a headache, but I think the lore premise of the Backrooms was perfect in the way that it was perfectly succinct, however the attempt at such short, palatable, but impactful writing in relation to the characters within the movie was certainly a failure. The characters absolutely didn't exist beyond as much as the titlecard of their roles, straightforward in the way of reading a dramatis personae and nothing more of the cast. Still enjoyable though!
We also went to a Ryoko Kui exhibit that was kinda terrible, and I think I'm learning that the central LA area (Aka the city, not the county!) is unsuitable for exhibits- Largely because the architecture fails to accomodate visitors. The heatwave! The genuinely terrible ventilation! Where can I begin.... The tickets were $23 to look at re-prints of manuscript work that is framed up, and a poorly lit darkroom where the for-fun figmas of the Dungeon Meshi food are at... If there's one thing I appreciate about the exhibit, it's that it motivates me to work on my comics and to keep it humble. Ryoko Kui started out doing short stories on her blog before transitioning into published work- I'd like to do similar...
I'm gonna spend the rest of my night writing in my comic notebook! Goodnight!
